Missa Brevis - Merton

Composed for the 750th anniversary of the foundation of Merton College, Oxford, this is a shortened setting of the traditional Latin Mass text (no Credo). Set for a cappella double choir (SSAATTBB), this challenging, polyphonic setting will appeal to experienced choirs. Featuring dense sonorities arising from chromatic vocal lines, shifting metric schemes, and soaring melismas (especially in the Gloria and Sanctus), this choral Mass would be effective at festive or commemorative celebrations or as a concert piece.
