Hamm’s text, from OCP’s hymnary Unite Our Hearts, features themes of Christian life, discipleship, love for others, petition, praise, social concern, and trust, which are enriched by McKinley’s compelling, prayerful melodic setting. The keyboard provides ample support for the SATB choir while the solo instrument in C adds a countermelody that soars above. Guitar accompaniment is also included.
