Pueblo de Dios
Based on beloved prayers and sacred scripture, this 12-song collection features singable melodies and familiar styles to encourage full participation in the liturgy. Offering songs that emphasize the word of God, Pueblo de Dios (God’s people) continues the journey begun with Somos la Iglesia. Inspired by the people of the church, the songs on this CD are ideal for celebrating God's love.
Representing the diversity of the Hispanic church, Pueblo de Dios features mariachi styles—from bolero ranchero and son jalisciense to huapango and danzón—as well as contemporary styles, including pop, rock and ballads. The collection spotlights an impressive lineup of soloists and musicians and the choir from the Catedral de Los Ángeles under the direction of Anna Betancourt.
Recorded in a contemporary style, "Con Solo una Palabra" is based on Matthew 8:5–13 and highlights the Centurion who received the gift of faith and asked Jesus to heal his servant. Speaking of the peace and tenderness we encounter in God's kingdom, the verses encourage the faithful to approach the table of the Lord to receive healing and peace. "Sálvame, Señor" is based on the dramatic and powerful text from Matthew 14:23-33, which tells of Jesus walking on water. Adding vibrancy to the Scripture and melody, the text uses son jalisciense style. Together, this diverse collection is truly for all people of God!
