Tim’s years spent as a music minister have led him to appreciate the wide variety of music that can be employed to support worship during Mass. His goal in writing Mass of the Sacred Heart—creating a setting that could be sung in a wide range of assemblies—resulted in an easy-to-learn melody that exhibits both traditional and contemporary qualities, perfect for assemblies of all ages.
An ideal setting to truly highlight the sacred Mass texts, this collection blends the old with the new, combining traditional sounds with an inspiring spirit. As an added bonus, many of the CD tracks feature dual recordings, allowing you to hear the songs with or without the organ and brass accompaniment.
The piano/guitar recordings demonstrate the simplicity and beauty of the melody and feature fellow OCP composer Santiago Fernández on the guitar and professional violinist and virtuoso Sonia Lee. Recorded in St. Mary’s Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland, Oregon, the organ/brass versions offer a fuller, more traditional sound. The use of the brass instruments rounds out the sound beautifully and displays the full potential of this versatile setting.
Incredibly versatile, this wonderful Mass setting will keep your assembly engaged week after week.
