El Amor Nunca Pasará
El Amor Nunca Pasará (Love never fails) is a collection of music for mariachi for the Catholic rite of marriage. It features gathering songs, psalms, Gospel acclamations, Communion songs and songs for meditation and other parts of the ceremony. All texts are based on Scripture, from the traditional wedding readings and from the ritual texts of the rite of marriage.
Highlights include “Flores y Plegarias,” a setting for the traditional giving of flowers to Mary. This tender song of consecration is perfectly suited to any of the Marian feasts. “Oración de los Esposos” is a setting for the prayer of the new husband and wife, based on the Genesis reading that states “it is not good for man to be alone.”
The recording captures the distinctive rhythms and buoyant energy of the cumbia, son, huapango and danzón musical styles—and makes for great listening outside the liturgy.
The songbook provides arrangements for mariachi instruments, including parts for violin, guitar and trumpet, with rhythm patterns. Most refrains are arranged for SATB choir, but can be sung in unison and without accompaniment.
