The third and final recording of Mass of Restoration was released on February 15, 2019. It’s entitled, “Sacred Sessions.”
With organ, strings, and choir, this version is the most common approach to liturgy in the Catholic Church. Sacrosanctum Concilium (the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy) says, “The pipe organ is to be held in high esteem for it is the traditional musical instrument which..lifts up man’s mind to God.” For this reason, the Mass of Restoration trilogy would not have been complete without this final installment.
In 2010, with news of the changes in the Roman Missal, Grae McCullough and I set out to write mass parts that would be approachable for any church musician. Now, in 2019, I am overjoyed to say it’s finished and we are beyond satisfied with the results. My prayer is that this setting will truly help bring healing and restoration to the church...restoration of hearts, restoration of unity, restoration of God’s people.
