Creator of the Stars

Josh Blakesley performs his updated take on the 9th-century hymn “Creator of the Stars.” A lovely ballad-style piece, Josh offers his own arrangement with added refrain, while utilizing the original hymn tune of CONDITOR ALME SIDERUM for the verses. He also worked to maintain many of the traditional elements of the hymn when writing the refrain, even going so far as to repurpose the language used in the translation of the Latin text. This piece will serve as an excellent addition to any Advent celebration, as we await the coming of Our Savior.

Creator of the stars of night,
Your people’s everlasting light,
O Christ, Redeemer of us all,
We pray you hear us when we call.

Come, O come, into the night O child of light!
Come, O come! The earth will bow; come save us now!
O come!
