Following his success with Saints and Sinners and All The People Said Amen, Matt Maher returns with his newest studio album, Echoes. Focusing on God's calling, Matt draws on stories of the Old Testament, in which individuals must place their faith in the Lord wholeheartedly. He notes that many of life's greatest challenges have remained the same. We fight for truth, love, control. But in the ever-changing days of technology, we find a lack of being; a lack of meditation. Many seek to be constantly active as a way of finding meaning in their lives. But it is through trust in God that we find our purpose; it is through praise and worship. "God wants you to win," Matt says. "God is your defender."
Beauty from Tragedy
The album itself was given new meaning after the loss of Matt's father. Having already written the songs, Matt began to form the tone and atmosphere around human triumph in the wake of suffering. Yet, the album does not feel sorrowful. Rather, it is a declaration of love for God's grace in our lives and a prayer for strength when we seem to crumble.
