Bio
Gael Berberick began her career in sacred music as a child singing and playing guitar for her home parish in Massachusetts. She has extensive experience as a cantor, violinist, guitarist and pianist in several military and civilian parishes in the Midwest and New England.She has played viola and violin in several orchestras in the United States and Europe. Gael incorporates an array of styles and genres into her compositions.
Throughout her career, she has made numerous television and radio appearances in the U.S, Germany and Poland. Her song “Hope for Peace” is played regularly on radio stations in the Midwest.
She has two bachelors’ degrees in music from the University of Massachusetts and has graduate-level viola performance training from the Chopin Conservatory in Warsaw, Poland.
Since 1998, she has collaborated with OCP composer Barney Walker and together they have produced an extensive body of religious songs and liturgical music. In 2004, they joined forces with OCP composer Kevin Keil to create musical projects reflecting a combination of their diverse styles. Gael’s recording work as a cantor is also available on M.D. Ridge’s A Light in Darkness.
Currently, Gael is the music liturgist for St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. She leads adult and youth choirs, and conducts two youth string orchestras in Tiverton, Rhode Island.
