Bio
Dan Schutte es uno de los compositores más conocidos e influyentes del mundo en la música católica en inglés para la liturgia. Además de su formación jesuita, Dan posee dos maestrías, una en Teología y otra en Liturgia, de la Graduate Theological Union en Berkeley, California. Dan se graduó en estudios de composición musical bajo la dirección del padre Kevin Waters, SJ, en la Universidad de Seattle; además de poseer tres doctorados honorarios por su contribución a la vida de la Iglesia.
Algunos de sus cantos más famosos como "Here I Am, Lord", "City of God" y "Sing a New Song", provienen de sus años de colaboración con St. Louis Jesuits. En 2015, OCP lanzó la edición del 40 aniversario de Earthen Vessels, el segundo álbum más vendido del grupo. Y en el otoño de 2017, OCP celebró el 40 aniversario de su álbum clásico de Navidad, Gentle Night, con una edición conmemorativa bellamente remezclada y remasterizada. Colecciones como To Praise You y el arreglo para la Misa Mass of Christ the Savior continúan mostrando su perdurable capacidad de llegar a los corazones de las personas de todas las edades y atraerlos a la oración. Dan, junto con Jaime Cortez han logrado también una versión bilingüe y en español de ese arreglo tan querido, titulado Misa Cristo Salvador.
Dan se ha desempeñado como liturgista y director de música en diversos entornos pastorales y académicos. Esa experiencia, su profundo conocimiento de la Sagrada Escritura y un fuerte sentido de espiritualidad forman la base de cada evento que lidera. Dan pasa una cantidad significativa de tiempo cada año viajando para ofrecer conciertos, retiros, talleres y misiones parroquiales a comunidades de todo el país. Su ministerio ha tenido un enorme impacto en el viaje espiritual de millones de personas.
Actualmente, Dan es compositor en residencia en la Universidad de San Francisco.
